Oaklawn Racing and Casino

For this next blog we’re going to find ourself about an hour south of Little Rock in the town of Hot Springs. Hot Springs is well known for so many things but my favorite by far is Oaklawn Racing Casino and Resort. Oaklawn (for all you 21 and olders) is really just an all day affair. Most days the races start around 1 and go until around 5. There’s outdoor and indoor seating which is great for those days where the weather is unpredictable. Now I can’t tell you too much about betting on horses.. honestly I can’t tell you anything about it at all. It goes over my head, but I still had such a great time without all that!

I’m sure I’ve lost some of you at “horses races” because understandably some people find that a little boring.. but wait! The day doesn’t end when the races do, you just move on down to the casino. Being one of Arkansas’s only casinos, it’s not insanely huge. But regardless it had penny slots, card tables, digital card tables, etc. It was the real deal. Luckily you don’t have to spend money to go, it’s fun to watch too! You definitely have to be 21 to partake in the fun but there are no many museums and restaurants for people who aren’t.

I’ve added Oaklawn’s website which has their schedule as well as some fun events and deals. Hot Springs also has a website with a ton of other fun places and restaurants to visit!

A Night At The Theatre

(WPTV.com)

Hello there, welcome to my first blog post! I’m starting off this entertainment guide with a bang, unfortunately it might be a little hit or miss with you guys. For starters.. if you haven’t given musical theatre, or just theatre in general, a chance then you’re really selling yourself short. Its basically a movie, but one thats happening right. in. front. of. you. I mean, I think thats pretty cool.

Anyways, where I’m getting at here is what I did this past weekend. I got the chance to go with my loving mother to see a troupe perform Wicked, a Broadway Musical. We were able to catch a show in downtown Little Rock, at the Robinson Center. The Robinson Center is one of many places locally that you can find shows, concerts, comedians, etc. At the end of this post I’ll include a list of a few of my Little Rock AND Conway favorites.

Yeah sounds great and all but then I’ve got to deal with box offices, time frames, yada yada yada…” But wait, you don’t! My process of buying the tickets, getting to the venues, getting to the bar (am I right?), then getting to my seat went unbelievably smooth. I just searched Wicked online, found the correct venue, time, and location, and bam! That easy. I happened to have gone through TicketMaster for my tickets, highly recommended. The best part? STUDENT DISCOUNT. Take advantage of your youth friends! Next you can choose whether you want your tickets sent to you or if your less responsible, like me, you can have them waiting for you at will call. I’d definitely recommend getting there a bit early just in case the lines are crazy. Build in another 20 minutes and a few more dollars for parking, and you’re all good to go
